Shonda Rhimes, the woman behind Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice and Scandal (as well as Britney Spears' movie Crossroads in 2002) has had her first attempt at a half-hour comedy sold to ABC.
Titled I Hate L.A. Dudes and written by Issa Rae of the hit web series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, the new show sounds like a more up to date version of Sex and the City, but in Los Angeles, and not full of rich white girls.
I Hate L.A. Dudes follows the life of an aspiring journalist who just moved to LA and becomes the only woman on a male dominated Internet talk show, while "learning to decode the often humiliating and exasperating rules of the LA dating scene" at the same time.
Rae will be writing and co-executive producing the series, and if it's anything like Awkward Black Girl, I am totally in.
To get a taste of what I Hate L.A. Dudes might be like, I'd recommend watching a couple of Awkward Black Girl episodes, which I've already consumed three episodes of in one sitting.
