Living in a mid-size city by the sea we have our fair share of eateries and bars. The usual mix of traditional pubs, fast food chains, takeaways and a couple of more sophisticated spots all mingle side by side. Nothing unusual there? Until now.
A new type of dining experience seems to be emerging in our neighbourhood. We were a little late compared to our well-heeled capital London but it has arrived. Dude Food is here.

Canned pumpkin puree is not particularly commonplace in the UK. Though it is now stocked by a couple of the higher end supermarkets, you can't nip to your local food purveyor for a pint of milk without tripping over a pyramid of real life pumpkins in October.
Here are some of the things I made with my pumpkin, for those of you intending to puree your own, or just open a can, this Halloween.

I love reading about food online. What did we do before we could Google cup to gram conversions mid baking session? When we existed on recipe books without photos, and had to make meals without first looking at 500 Instagram photos of how said dish is supposed to be presented?
I was eating Matzo directly from the pack recently, and set about looking for serving suggestions, lest I stand in the kitchen and eat an entire box of dry crackers. The first thing I stumbled upon was Smi...

Eat Your Heart Out is a slightly odd event, which marries an anatomy lecture with an episode of The Great British Bake Off. This three day festival is curated by the gruesome cake-baking mastermind Miss Cakehead, whose previous events include the very memorable vagina cup...

It’s less than two weeks until a certain coffee chain release this year’s range of festive coffees. Whether the recent tax avoidance scandal has put you off, or you’re simply struggling to budget £3 a day to feed your red cup habit, why not try making your own?
I'm on a mission to recreate seasonal hot drinks at home this winter. I've started with gingerbread latte because it’s my all-time favourite. My preferred outlet used t...

I have a confession to make: I'm not a fan of soup.
Every year, when the temperature drops and the nights draw in, I'm tempted. But whenever I open a carton of an exciting sounding combination of flavours I'm invariably disappointed. Soup, to me, is little more than a hot bread and melted butter delivery system. Which is a little wasteful really, when I could get the same results from a slice of toast.

Can we have a cocktail klaxon please!
Today we celebrate one of life’s little pleasures, the cocktail. We aren’t talking Cosmopolitan’s or even a cheeky bit of Sex on The Beach, guys. I want to do this right, and I want you to too. So. I’m about to introduce you to some of the most intricate cocktails I could come across.

There is something incredibly comforting about the cold weather. For one you can cuddle up again without getting too warm and a bath seems to be the best idea after braving a rainy and windy day.
Food wise, stews, soups and anything stodgy may be back on the menu, and the lettuce can wilt in the vegetable crisper. Any food that can radiate heat through your body is very welcome this season.

Soup is, without doubt, the ultimate autumnal foodstuff. It is warming, it makes the most of seasonal produce and there is something endlessly cosy about standing over a simmering pan on a dark and dreary evening.
I developed this recipe for my Ultimate Autumn Soup on a crisp and chilly Sunday. I’d just got in from a day cavorting around the Cotswolds. I say cavorting; I was actually rather hung over. Either way, I knew that I wanted autumn in a bowl.

Whilst cocktails that feature chocolate milk may not be the most elegant or refined of creations, there can be no denying their voluptuous deliciousness.
With this being National Chocolate Week and a Friday, the time feels right to indulge in a boozy chocolate treat. Time to reach for the Yazoo (the drink, not the eighties synth-pop duo featuring Alison Moyet, althou...
