It's my favorite time of year you guys! I unabashedly love Valentine's Day with the passion of a thousand first kisses. Is there a better way to tell someone you love them than through food? I do not know of any better way, friends. So why not make a batch of these sugar cookies, decorate them all fancy pants and give them to your crush/partner/best friend/best dog/best stranger?

I’ll be the first to tell you that I’m not one for leftovers. They honestly freak me out. Sometimes, though, there is a recipe that requires leftovers. Fried rice is one of those recipes. I’d made fried rice in the past using freshly made rice and it just gums up and gets nasty. With some simple planning, fried rice is now one of my favorite meals of the week.

Muffins make me so happy. With a muffin, you get to walk around like you've got your life together. You're one of those healthy people that maybe bikes to work and always has extra safety pins in her bag in case a hem goes rogue. You whip out that muffin from your immaculately organized bag to fuel you through your morning meeting where you'll use your very large brain to impress many people. You're very important.

Some of the best recipes are born out of boredom. That desire to eat something different, something that you’ve never done before but you’re willing to try to make. One night when my mom was bored with plain old broiled/grilled chicken she decided to make her own teriyaki marinade. It was a hit and we’ve been making it ever since.

This is a super quick, super easy way to jazz up your almonds. They're great on salads and ice cream. But be warned, after they've cooled, put them away or else you'll keep grabbing handfuls off the counter.Ingredients1 teaspoon canola oil1 cup raw almonds2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

I love Mexican food. I’ve already told you all about my love affair with tacos, but there is a food that I love even more than Tacos. Fajitas.Fajitas, pronounced Fa-hee-tas for those who aren’t familiar; is a dish featuring steak or chicken mixed with sautéed onions, bell peppers and spices. Traditionally, Spanish rice and refried beans are served on the side along with tortillas of your choice. I ...

It's so cold in New York! And I've picked an interesting time of year to choose swimming as a pastime. So I come home what seems like twelve hours after sundown, hair half wet, entire body shivering, about to pass out from exhaustion and body-is-icicle disease. I can barely think let alone cook, so what better than a big vat of chilli (made over the weekend) to thaw me from the inside out?

Breakfast is the most important meal so I’ve been told, but I’ve never really been a fan of it. I enjoy breakfast foods and on Sundays I love brunch, but eating first thing in the morning just doesn’t work well for me. I was always a cup of coffee and out the door kind of lady. I’ve been informed that this isn’t the healthiest route to take and that I’m actually slowing down my metabolism by doing this. That’s a huge bummer because a slow metabolism doesn’t help one be their healthiest.

I love cornbread! But I don't ever think to make it, which is a total shame because there's so much to love! First of all it's so versatile. You can make it sweet or savory and pair it with a ton of dishes. Secondly it's so portable. Just wrap up a chunk in a napkin and you've got the perfect snack for your commute or the 3 o'clock tummy grumbles. Thirdly, it's so pretty! All yellow and golden, I like to call it the sunshine snack.

For the New Year I hopped on the bandwagon and made a resolution. It’s simple and completely attainable. For 2012 I simply want to be the healthiest me I can be. This simple plan involves me eating more veggies and getting off the couch and exercising. See? Simple.Enter my go-to meal for heaps of veg; Stir-fry. You can put whatever you want in and almost certainly get a healthy feast out. It involves a bit of prep work, but once the cooking begins you’re done before you know it.
