It's so cold in New York! And I've picked an interesting time of year to choose swimming as a pastime. So I come home what seems like twelve hours after sundown, hair half wet, entire body shivering, about to pass out from exhaustion and body-is-icicle disease. I can barely think let alone cook, so what better than a big vat of chilli (made over the weekend) to thaw me from the inside out?

Breakfast is the most important meal so I’ve been told, but I’ve never really been a fan of it. I enjoy breakfast foods and on Sundays I love brunch, but eating first thing in the morning just doesn’t work well for me. I was always a cup of coffee and out the door kind of lady. I’ve been informed that this isn’t the healthiest route to take and that I’m actually slowing down my metabolism by doing this. That’s a huge bummer because a slow metabolism doesn’t help one be their healthiest.

I love cornbread! But I don't ever think to make it, which is a total shame because there's so much to love! First of all it's so versatile. You can make it sweet or savory and pair it with a ton of dishes. Secondly it's so portable. Just wrap up a chunk in a napkin and you've got the perfect snack for your commute or the 3 o'clock tummy grumbles. Thirdly, it's so pretty! All yellow and golden, I like to call it the sunshine snack.

For the New Year I hopped on the bandwagon and made a resolution. It’s simple and completely attainable. For 2012 I simply want to be the healthiest me I can be. This simple plan involves me eating more veggies and getting off the couch and exercising. See? Simple.Enter my go-to meal for heaps of veg; Stir-fry. You can put whatever you want in and almost certainly get a healthy feast out. It involves a bit of prep work, but once the cooking begins you’re done before you know it.

Right?Ingredients1 cup long grain white rice5 cups vanilla almond milk1/2 cup brown sugar2 teaspoons spice of your choice - cinnamon, cardamon, ginger, etc.

It’s time to ring in the New Year and what better way to do so than with a champagne cocktail? Nothing says “It’s a Celebration, Bitches!” quite like a bit of bubbly. Champagne is my favorite potent potable next to vodka. It makes every activity a party. In college I once drank champagne before moving and it can really turn ANYTHING into a party.

With the culinary excesses of Christmas day over, conventional wisdom dictates that it is prudent to spend the days after eating “light” dishes. Zingy Thai salads, wholesome turkey broths, lettuce, grapefruit......you get the idea. Yawn.Conventional wisdom sucks. Once the flood gates of festive overindulgence have been opened, it is folly to close them until after New Year’s Day.

Holidays always make me think of cookies. No matter what holiday it is, there is a cookie cutter and recipe to go with it. My favorite cookies to decorate for any holiday are sugar cookies. While looking through my copy of the Treasury of Home Baking I came across a recipe for some “Yule Tide Namesakes”. It turned out yuletide namesakes were crumbly butter cookies that the author had turned into p...

Hello! It's vegan Christmas again! This is where I tell you what my perfect Christmas would look like food-wise. Let's start with breakfast shall we? These waffles are pretty amazing, and waffles are indeed my favorite food. To go along with those waffles how about some hot chocolate? That sounds good, hmm? It'll g...
