Annie Frenzel is a Berlin-based artist, working out of Lowbrow tattoo studio. She also happens to be fantastic. Not in a totally biased I-want-her-work-so-bad kind of way, in a genuine, she-leaves-me-speechless kind of way.
Annie doesn't claim to have a specialty but instead loves "simple, strong and colourful images". This love comes across heavily in her work, although her ladies are quickly becoming renowned in the tattooing world, winning her the attention of almost every other artist and collector.
Nearly a year ago, Annie Frenzel began the mission of drawing a Girl A Day, inspired by emotions, events and adventures. Following her on Instagram throughout this time was something spectacular; I still remember falling in love with one particular drawing, to find that it was inspired by Kinder Bueno bars. Yes, the chocolate. Her ability to take the simplest of things and create art totally amazes me. Fangirl? Me? Never.
Annie has reached worldwide success with her art and although she cannot tattoo everyone who wants her work, she does often provide art for those around the world. She is currently selling sketchbooks, and has previously sold her artwork on t-shirts; a common way to represent an artist without them touching your skin.
There really is so much to say about Annie Frenzel’s work. She uses bold colours and traditional styles to make her work look as though it’s popping out of the skin. Not bad for someone who has only been tattooing ten years, eh?!
