The Best Boots on the High Street

By Charlotte Rowland

Christmas is coming, and so is the cold weather, so It's time to start rethinking your footwear!

We've waded through the shops and picked some of the best boots the high street has to offer this year! Behold...

The Classic Tall Boot

It is a winter wardrobe staple, and whether you're looking for a flat 'riding boot', or something more glamorous, Dune have one of the best ranges this season.

They're reasonably priced, good quality and a versatile fit (many featuring elasticated bands for those who don't have the calve size or shape of the elusive 'average woman').

You can find Dune's extensive range on their website. But they're selling at speed, so shop around the department stores to find where your size is still available. Stockists include House of Fraser, Debenhams, and ASOS.

The Statement Boot

For boots that make more of a statement, it's once again time to channel the military style. It's all about the buckles, buttons and laces!

These stunning 'Jeffrey Campbell Battalion Boots' are available from FreePeople (£199.95). But for something more casual and practical try the 'Pixie Button Boot'from Bertie, stocked by House of Fraser (also available in black and tan) (£169.99).

The Ankle Boot

The best ankle boots for this season have also embraced the military trend. Some are gloriously chunky and rebellious like Steve Madden's Razscal MG Buckle Boots (£59), and others are more subtle. Studs and straps give a gentle twist to this traditional book from Topshop (£88).

The Work Boot

When the weather gets cold, it's time to ditch the pumps and hide those toes away in some cute shoe boots. This pair from New Look are a beautiful bargain at £14.99 (also in black and nude).

The Party Boot

If you can handle a heel, then you can take your pick of some utterly stunning boots this year. This 'Passion Black Brocade Boot' from Miss Selfridge (£85) would make a welcome early Christmas present (for yourself, obviously). Or the 'Wine Ruched Ankle Boot' from Dorothy Perkins (£45), or these 'BurgundyPeep Toe Boots'... A girl could get carried away.

The Casual Comfort Boot

Uggs are on their way out, but the principle of fluffy, cosey comfort definitely isn't. The CAT Stellar Boot will provide a secure sole for £67.99, but for more of a statement tuck your skinny jeans into Rocketdog's 'Blazer Boots' (£64.99)

Team with a black cape coat, or a chunky knitted jumper, for a stylishly laid back look.

 The Wet-Weather Wellie

You don't have to buy a Hunter wellie to look stylish in the mud. Joules do a fantastic range of colourful and patterned wellies, to bring some brightness to those rainy days (for half the price).
